Each year the Alief Alumni Group, Inc., a (501 C 3) nonprofit organization, hosts its Annual "Thank God I’m From (T.G.I.F) Alief” scholarship drive. In addition to the T.G.I.F. celebration held each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, we hope to give more members of the community an opportunity to offer their support through in-kind donations that will assist Alief Independent School District at-risk students.
Through collaboration with the Alief ISD, The Alief Alumni Group selects students with a compelling need for financial assistance. These students are asked to share their biographies to show their journey toward academic progress despite economical and/or personal hardships. Candidates must be seniors who are planning to enroll in a college or university to receive the scholarship.
The Alief community possesses 45,625 students; of those students, 31,141 have been identified as "at-risk" students by the standards of the Texas Education Agency. Through various programs offered by the Alief Alumni Group, Inc. and with the support of both the graduates and the surrounding community, Alief ISD graduation rate should increase 100 percent over a 4-year period. Help continue our cause and “Take Advantage Of Today, To Give An Opportunity To Tomorrow”.
We are requesting your financial contribution towards our program’s goal of eliminating financial burden as the decisive factor for at-risk student to not complete high school and continue on to become successful college graduates. Your in-kind donation will make it possible to award more scholarships to at-risk students who strive to achieve economic mobility.
